PLOT » Coco just moved to his new apartment with 7 months pregnant wife Pipi, when their building is quarantined due to the outbreak of a deadly flu. Soon neighbors become unexpected enemies and Coco is forced to join forces with his loony, but well prepared and stocked next-door-neighbor, Horacio to defend the contents of his fridge and keep his pregnant wife safe.Meanwhile, outside the quarantined building, the world as we know it is disappearing. No wonder no one came when they dialed 911.
A father-to-be belatedly becomes aware of the apocalypse taking place around him in this darkly comic thriller from Argentina. Coco (Daniel Hendler) and Pipi (Jazmin Stuart) are a twenty-something couple who live in a high-rise apartment complex where they don’t have much contact with their neighbors. Even if they did, with Pipi seven months pregnant, they’re preoccupied with the upcoming arrival of their first child, and barely notice when the building is sealed off as part of a state-ordered quarantine that seeks to prevent the spread of a flu-like disease spreading through Europe. While Coco and Pipi quietly settle in to wait out the quarantine, Coco learns not all the other tenants believe what they’ve been told, and he’s soon caught up in their paranoia as survival and holding on to your provisions become the order of the day and the outside world descends into madness. Directed by Nicolas Goldbart, FASE 7 (aka PHASE 7) received its North American premiere at the 2011 South by Southwest Film Festival.
